“It’s like, it doesn’t honor God to pretend like everything is OK. That’s the beauty of Jesus that so many people miss. The beauty is that he died on the cross for our sins, but also that he existed the way we exist. He understands what it’s like to lose a friend. He’s not unfamiliar with those emotions. He’s not unfamiliar with the difficulty of human life. To me that’s what makes Jesus as God beautiful. He totally understands. He went out of his way to prove to us that he understands our situation. So when he has something to say, it’s not coming from this high and lofty standpoint. It’s coming from this person who understands intricately the perils of human existence.”—John Mark McMillan (via savemefromyself)
it occurred to me today tumblr is a church. the Christians on tumblr post about their struggles and reblog to encourage each other. we reblog scripture and forms of art and music worship that praises God. we follow each other to learn new opinions and we fill our dashboard with fellowship.
“I looked up and saw the very last thing I expected: a huge lion coming slowly towards me. And one queer thing was that there was no moon last night, but there was moonlight where the lion was. So it came nearer and nearer. I was terribly afraid of it. You may think that being a dragon I could…
“I want to be a woman who lives totally abandoned to the first commandment. To love my Lord, my God, with all my heart. I don’t want the reputation that I love God, I don’t want to write songs about loving God, I don’t want to talk about loving God. I want to actually love God. When I close my eyes, I want my heart to move. When I close my eyes and I look at Him, I want to feel alive on the inside. I want to look at Him with a fire in my heart and it’s real.”—Misty Edwards (via classyliving)
A women who exudes true feminine mystique is both modest and selfless. She doesn’t hide her femininity; she dresses to reflect the joy and radiance that fill her soul. She dresses to honour her husband, or future husband, and the men around her. Her outward beauty is an expression of the…
There are so many things in my heart right now and I’m not certain how I am going to express it. But I will just share to you something short. It’s something I learned tonight. The word of God is really a double-edged sword and it really pierced into my heart.
Well, I learned that:
Though I had this ideal view of what success really could be, in my heart, I saw success differently.
How you define success directs how you achieve it.
Success is about who called me to be and what I’m called to do.
I need to ask then who am I and why I’m here.
Before you answer those questions, it’s more important is to know WHOM AM I. — And I am His.
To pursue success without God is like chasing after the wind, useless.
It is when we surrender to God that we can really be successful.
In Proverbs 3:5-6, it says,
Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.
I think this is the first time that I really fully grasped what it means to trust God with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. I’ve learned that to trust God is to just really depend on Him alone. No one else. It means that you can’t do anything without Him; that you really need Him; and you just don’t know what to do without Him. I’ve learned that to trust God is to recognize that the plans you have for yourself that you think are already perfect can be greatly mistaken and you need God to reveal what it is He really wants you to become and what He wants you to do. I’ve learned that trusting God is putting Him above all things and letting Him take over. I’ve also learned that to acknowledge Him is to not just know that He’s there and He’s good. To acknowledge God is to recognize His sovereignty over your life and that He has this amazing plan for you. To acknowledge God is to see Him as the purpose of every thing that you do, whether it’s in school, in work, in your relationships, or in other things. To acknowledge God is to make Him the purpose and the passion of all things that you do.
Conclusion: SURRENDER and the rest of your life will be the best of your life.
