“Men, you don’t pursue a woman unless you’re seriously wanting to consider marriage with her. Men, you should not be looking for a girlfriend. You should be looking for a wife.”—Mark Driscoll (via mwali)
“God is not in love with some future version of you. It’s not you tomorrow that He loves and delights in. It’s not you when you get your act together….If you believe that Christ’s love for you is a future love for you, then you dismiss the cross of Christ.”—Matt Chandler, God is for GOD (via myweaknessxhisstrength)
“I don’t want to redefine salvation. I don’t want to redefine the gospel or even Christianity on the whole. I suppose I want to undefine them. I want to strip away the thousands of years of graffiti painted onto the gospel, turning it into a reasonable code of doctrines. The gospel is not an idea. It is not a belief. It is not a favorite verse. The gospel does not live in your church, it cannot be written down in a simple message, and it is not the sinner’s prayer. The gospel is not a what. It is not a how. The gospel is a Who. The gospel is literally the good news of Jesus. Jesus is the gospel.”—Carl Medearis, Speaking of Jesus (via abideinhislove)
I live in such a quiet neighborhood. At night, it’s just creepy forest sound. In the morning though, all you’ll be hearing are chirping birds and barking dogs. It actually feels peaceful, and I’ve been living here since I was in the 1st grade, and I still find this place lovely. I guess I just grew a greater appreciation for this place. Just saying. :)
Beloved. Release your burdens. Take the backpack off your shoulders. Blow the dust off your hands, and put the parcels down. Close your eyes. Lay on the floor on your back. Breathe out weariness. Breathe out bitterness. Feel the tension in your shoulders fall away. Feel the weight of your body colapse into the floor as you begin to release every anxiety, worry and hurt. As you begin to trust that even if the floor caved away you would still be held in His beautiful warm, strong arms. Beloved, let it all out, let it all go.
“My feelings are not God. God is God. My feelings do not define truth. God’s word defines truth. My feelings are echoes and responses to what my mind perceives. And sometimes - many times - my feelings are out of sync with the truth. When that happens - and it happens every day in some measure - I try not to bend the truth to justify my imperfect feelings, but rather, I plead with God: Purify my perceptions of your truth and transform my feelings so that they are in sync with the truth.”—John Piper (via abideinhislove)
